What is DIVA Back Office?
DIVA Back Office, part of the DIVA Platform, is a video Content Management System (CMS) offering three main services:
1. Video CMS
Create and manage your own full live and VOD video catalog. The DIVA Back Office Scheduler is the user interface providing the ability to program Live streams (e.g., start/stop).
2. LiveToVod transition
DIVA Back Office provides the orchestration of the LiveToVod workflow. When live sessions finish, automatically transition them to VOD content using manifest URLs with options to manage video replay settings.
3. Data integration
Integrate data into a video stream, such as timeline markers, chapters, and commentary into DIVA Back Office in two ways, automatically and manually:
- Automatically: use a set of Rest APIs and back-end services
- Manually: create data directly within DIVA Back Office
Deltatre offers live event operations and/or training for your team to use DIVA Back Office.
Supported Cloud providers
No longer bound by a single Cloud provider, DIVA supports Amazon Web Services (AWS), an infrastructure and hosting partner, and Azure Media Services (AMS), a Microsoft Cloud Provider.
Ghost mode
Ghost mode is a subset of DIVA Back Office functionality. Ghost mode is used by customers who are bringing a third-party Online Video Platform (OVP) but still need to control elements of DIVA like data synchronization. It stores references to video assets and eliminates the need for operators to use the Video Scheduler as well as the manual creation of live events (applicable when a video automation workflow is not present).
DIVA Back Office workflow
DIVA Workflow provides an end-to-end video playback solution. This is the initial stage for each project and is managed by Deltatre Project teams who work closely with clients and specific needs. Below is a typical example of a DIVA Back Office workflow setup.
Features and operations
DIVA Back Office features include:

Key concepts
DIVA Back Office provides video asset ingestion, video workflows, sports and editorial data, and advertisements. These processes are completed before content is available on DIVA Player. Read on for more information on each:
Video asset ingestion
Video asset ingestion is the process of adding a video file and its associated data, e.g., video ID, title, URL, to DIVA Back Office. Live content isn't ingested into DIVA Back Office, we offer the UI to schedule the live events instead.
The ingestion process depends on the video asset state, live or video-on-demand (VOD).
Video files pass through an encoder, to the origin, existing now as a video asset in DIVA Back Office. For video streams to be accessible within DIVA Player, video assets go through Packaging and Distribution workflows. Read on for more about video workflows.
Video workflows
Once ingestion is complete, video assets go through workflows before they are available on DIVA Player. Video workflows can be Live or VOD. DIVA Back Office supports Harmonic and AWS as the video origin.
The Packaging workflow transcodes and protects videos with Digital Rights Management (DRM) and content protection.
Sport and editorial data
The DIVA Platform supports the enrichment of video streams with synchronized sports and editorial data. Sports data includes key moments such as goals, red and yellow cards, and kick-offs, etc, while editorial data refers to commentary through a dedicated UI (User Interface) and APIs. Both data types are associated with a specific moment in a video. External systems such as Opta, Stat Perform, and Sports Radar support sports and editorial data.
Advertisements
Directly monetize videos via client-side advertisements. Manage client-side pre-roll and post-roll advertisements, which are separate entities to the main video.
Roles and permissions
DIVA introduces a simplified UI and UX, helping to complete tasks efficiently, and lessening the risk of human error. Supporting a set of predefined user roles with specific permission levels, use GUI Shell to grant users access DIVA Back Office features.
Depending on the assigned user role, permissions include the ability to ingest, edit, or view content via certain pages, panels, or fields. For example, Administrators have access to all features and fields, while an Editor, who is typically non-technical, can check data but certain areas will display in read-only mode. Read our Roles, permissions, and user groups article for more information.
