DIVA enables clients to use their own operators to manage video and data workflows, significantly reducing the cost of DIVA Back Office and its operations. Through DIVA's set of predefined user groups, better manage control over specific areas of the user interface (UI).
The first stage of our roles and permissions development includes the ability to set permissions to:
- Show/hide menu items and pages
- Show/hide specific parts of UI/UX
- Specify field rights (edit/read-only)
It's important to allocate the appropriate roles and permissions to users (see below) based on their responsibilities. Back Office user responsibilities typically include:
- Video-on-demand (VOD) content ingestion
- VOD metadata edits
- Live event scheduling
- Live event start/stop
- Trim in/trim out configuration
- Editorial data configuration
- Data synchronization
- Timeline management
- Advertisement management
- Content preview
What are roles, permissions, and user groups?
Roles and permissions include the ability to ingest, edit, or view content within the DIVA Platform. The assigned user role dictates the level of access granted to individual users and their ability to view and interact with pages, panels, and fields. For example, Administrators have access to all features and fields, while an Editor, who is typically non-technical, can check data but certain areas will display in read-only mode.
DIVA Back Office operator responsibilities differ on a per-project basis. User groups exist to better control who has access to areas of DIVA Back Office. User groups include:
- Administrator — full permissions, access to view and edit all pages, panels, and fields
- Editor — permissions to view, edit, and manage videos, timelines, and ad campaigns
- Basic (editor) — permissions to view and edit video properties
- Schedule operator — permissions to schedule and operate on live sessions
- Viewer — read-only permissions to the Back Office
How are roles and permissions assigned to users?
There are two levels of permissions:
- Access to GUIShell
- Access to required application, e.g., DIVA Back Office
Administrators of DIVA Back Office are responsible for assigning roles to users via GUIShell.
