How does DIVA use analytics?
Measure success and learn how DIVA's video player is used and interacted with through data and analytics. There are two types of analytics, Media and General. Keep reading for more information. For full lists of General and Media analytic events, visit the DIVA developer hub.
Note: Only events related to completed features/functionality are supported for DIVA TV platforms. The current list of events expands as we continue DIVA TV development.
What are Media analytics?
Media analytics focus on precise performance metrics of media consumption, e.g., the time taken for a video to start, the average bitrate across certain devices in a particular geographical location, etc. The DIVA SDK provides a Media Analytics Interface, exposing low-level media player events.
Depending on the provider, integrators can write code to intercept these events and implement their own Media analytics integration. Popular providers include Conviva, NPAW Youbora, New Relic, Mux, Akamai, etc.
What are General analytics?
General analytics focus on the media, e.g., playback performance, playback across devices, geographical regions, metrics, button usage, errors, etc. Google Analytics is an example of a General Analytics provider.
What is the Conviva plugin?
Note: Released as part of DIVA 5.0 on Android, iOS, Responsive web, Web TV, Android TV, tvOS, and Roku.
DIVA offers a ready-to-use, out-of-the-box Conviva plugin that receives events from DIVA, sending them directly to Conviva. Easily integrate the Conviva plugin with the host application and connect to DIVA through the Media Analytics Interface.
The Conviva plugin is compatible with Android, iOS, Responsive web, WebTV, Android TV, tvOS, Roku, and the Chromecast Receiver app.
Conviva ads analytics
From DIVA 5.6 onwards, DIVA now supports ads analytics using Conviva. This improves analytics reporting and builds on the SSAI client-side beaconing developments.
The level of information sent to Conviva is more granular, helping our users to understand their end user interactions with adverts. Information includes loading adverts, which adverts the user was shown, etc.
What is the NPAW Youbora plugin?
Note: Released as part of DIVA 5.3 on Android and iOS, with Responsive web coming soon, and 5.4 on WebTV, Android TV, tvOS, and Roku.
DIVA offers NPAW Youbora as an alternative video Quality of Experience (QoE) and Quality of Service (QoS) solution to Conviva. Optional for DIVA integrators, the NPAW Youbora plugin offers an out-of-the-box implementation of Media Analytics.
The NPAW Youbora plugin is compatible with Android, iOS, Responsive web, WebTV, Android TV, tvOS, Roku, and the Chromecast Receiver app.
