What is fan engagement?

Sports and entertainment fans are incredibly passionate people. As the world's leading sports and entertainment technology provider, we take creating the ultimate fan experience seriously. Expressing opinions on diverse issues has become one of the most popular forms of social discourse in the modern world. From sports team selection to global political affairs (or events) and reality TV, for right or wrong, fans want to express their opinions. It’s all possible with DIVA.
We've built upon the video stream and data feed to engage viewers by creating a 'real-life' experience with enriched playback. We found that the key to boosting user engagement and retention is incorporating interactivity through an immersive, captivating experience with social interactions.
How DIVA helps fans express themselves
DIVA 4.12 for web, iOS, and Android (mobile applications), introduces two new fan engagement features, Interactive widgets, and Influencer chat. Together they empower fans to congregate and express their opinions, react to polls, make predictions, vote, answer quizzes, emoji-react, all in real-time. The seamless blend of video, data (editorially-driven by LiveLike), and interactivity enriches the playback experience, helping boost engagement.

"Listen to the needs of the fans." - Lan Anh Nguyen
Meet Lan Anh who shares with us her 10 years' experience at Deltatre. Using the term 'phygital' to describe her involvement in developing DIVA's innovative features, blending the digital with the physical for enhanced experiences. In her spare time, Lan Anh lectures community design students at IAAD (University for Design) Digital Communication Design department, Turin.

Joining Deltatre as an Android Developer in 2012, Lan Anh started her career as an Android developer for multi-sport applications and the Android DIVA player for seven years before transitioning into a Business Analyst role. Working closely with various stakeholders, the product owner, UX designers, developers, testers, and product writers, Lan Anh's core responsibilities include satisfying end user requirements and expectations, in addition to writing technical documentation. For each new feature, she defines the step-by-step implementation, the required business logic, and customer value. Understanding consumer needs, market research, and innovative ideas are key when building a successful new feature.

Lan Anh's excitement for the future of fan engagement is driven by the opportunity to create powerful connections between people who are distanced from each other geographically. Believing significant strides will be taken in the immersive technology world, including Virtual Reality, 360° viewing, monetization, and gamification, Lan Anh can't wait to see what's around the corner for DIVA.
