This article introduces automatic highlights for DIVA 4.9
What are automatic highlights?
Automatic highlights provide a unique viewing experience, enabling audiences to consume key events for live and video-on-demand (VOD) content. Highlights differ slightly depending on whether the content being consumed is a live stream or VOD; see below for examples of each.
Highlights for live content
When consuming a live event, audiences can revisit earlier moments by viewing highlights. Audiences are notified when highlights are available, allowing earlier moments of the event to be revisited. Selecting the highlight notification enters Highlight's mode.
Highlight's mode (live)
Entering in a Picture-in-Picture (PiP) view, the live event minimizes focusing on the highlights. Highlighted moments display as comments on the left-hand side of the screen, with relevant video content. Jump to each available highlight in chronological order by selecting next.
Highlight's mode ensures the audience is not taken away from the live action; however, selecting the live event picture returns to live view.
Highlights for VOD content
Viewing content on-demand presents highlights slightly differently depending on the event version selected, e.g., short, medium, long, or full match.
Highlight's mode (VOD)
Either watch the event in full or focus on the highlights. Highlighted moments display as comments on the left-hand side of the screen. Jump to each available highlight in chronological order by selecting next.
Highlights for mobiles and tablets
For mobiles and tablets, highlight comments display at the bottom of the screen. Tapping a highlight jumps to the relevant moment of the action.
How are automatic highlights populated?
Clips from events are automatically generated. Highlights work independently to the commentary and timeline.
