This article introduces the skip intervals feature in DIVA Player.
The following topics are covered here:
Compatibility notes: Skip intervals is available from DIVA Player 5.7 on Responsive web, WebTV, Android, and Android TV, and 5.8 on Roku.
Skip intervals explained
Skip intervals is a feature that allows any part of a stream that is specified as an interval to be skipped.
Available for video-on-demand (VOD), when viewing skippable content, a button displays on screen informing users they can skip this part of the stream, for example, intros, episode recaps, starting credits, etc.
If selected, users bypass the skippable content, jumping directly to the main video; however, if the button isn't interacted with, it auto-hides, providing extra screen space.
💡 Visit the video playback article for supporting information.
Are skip intervals configurable?
Yes, any part of the video, if specified as an interval, is skippable. It's possible to define the start/from and to/end time via DIVA Back Office API, button label (e.g., skip intro, skip credits, skip recap, etc.), and auto-hide time (5 seconds by default) in the VideoMetaData and Dictionary files.
Skip intervals and video casting
When streaming a VOD stream in DIVA, when reaching a skippable interval, a skip button displays. If using Chromecast, the skip button displays on the casting device.
